More than half of the problems on the tests will be selected from quiz problems, examples in the textbook, all the problems at the end of each section (not just the assigned problems), and review problems at the end of each chapter. The test will include about 6-10 problems (some with many parts).

Remember that, as it is customary with sample exams, this problem list is primarily intended to show the types of questions that may be asked; it does not reflect the composition or length of the exams for this semester. Nevertheless, attempting to solve these sample problems by yourself, in the time allotted, will provide you with a great way to measure your readiness for the "real thing". Of course, it would be foolish to prepare for the test by looking only into the sample test problems.

The problems below are from the textbook for the course: Calculus, Hughes-Hallett et al, 4th edition, ISBN 0-471-48481-4, Wiley, and are identified in the usual format, where "1.8: 2, 19" means problems 2 and 19 from Section 1.8 and "R1: 35" means problem 35 in Chapter 1 Review.
