My fellow Owls,

Welcome to the Boca Raton campus of Florida Atlantic University.  As a new chapter unfolds in your lives, I would like to be one of the first to welcome you, new and returning students alike, to the 2009-2010 school year.  As you may know FAU is an up-and-coming university; we pride ourselves on this and plan to continue this growth for years to come.  Here in Boca we are working to become more of a traditional university.  Because of that we now have yearly events that take place to either build Owl Pride or just for you to learn more about FAU.

Homecoming, for example, mind you this is not your average dance from high school, is a week full of spirit and events.  There is the homecoming comedy show, the homecoming parade, and of course the homecoming football game just to name a few.  To continue on with the traditional aspect of this campus we also have events like “Bury the Burrow in Red” where all of the students wear red to the annual basketball game where we play our rival school, FIU.  We also have a very active Greek Life consisting of, 13 Fraternities, 9 Sororities and 4 councils. 

Student Government has many plans for the upcoming year.  One of our main concerns is safety on campus.  For this we will be promoting the Night Owls Service and Program Board’s late night programming.  We are also planning to continue Stress Week where goodies will be handed out during finals week on the Breezeway each semester.  We are also in the process of researching ways that will help FAU students save money around town.  Be on the lookout for more activities and programs sponsored by Student Government during the year.

The Boca Raton campus is the heart and soul of Florida Atlantic University.  You can always find students hanging out on the Breezeway and exercising in our brand new Campus Recreation Center.  No matter the activity, students always make time to sing the fight song while cheering our football team to our third consecutive bowl game. These will be the moments that will define your life and make you an FAU Owl forever.
