Tamie Kanata a native of Japan, received the 2004 Outstanding Dissertation Award from the International and Intercultural Communication Division of the National Communication Association. A professor of intercultural communication, Dr. Kanata’s work primarily concerns issues related to race and ethnicity, cultural adaptation, and transnational identities as experienced and discursively created in one’s everyday life.
