Lawrence (Ladd) Borne received his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is a Florida professionally  licensed engineer with particular expertise in ocean systems engineering , including underwater tools, instruments, structures and hydrodynamics. He has extensive experience in a wide variety of engineering applications such as the design of specialized research water tunnels, ocean-going buoys, ROVs, handling systems, control systems, optical systems, and propulsion systems. His research and testing projects have included ship hull and screw hydrodynamics, towed body hydrodynamics, underwater LASER imaging and ranging, and silicon based antifouling coating systems. Lawrence has been with Harbor Branch Oceanographic for over 16 years.
