What is a Plan of Study? A Plan of Study outlines the coursework you will be taking at FAU to fulfill the requirements of your graduate degree. It is developed in conjunction with your advisor and is essentially a contract between you and the University, detailing the courses and credits that will be applied to your degree.
When is the Plan of Study due? Your Plan of Study should be filed with the Graduate College before completing half of your coursework.
How soon can I complete a Plan of Study? The Graduate College strongly encourages students to complete their Plan of Study during their first or second semester of enrollment.
How do I complete a Plan of Study? Start by reviewing the Plan of Study Power Point Tutorial (Plan of Study: Do's and Dont's) and the Plan of Study Instructions before completing the actual Plan of Study form. Remember, your Plan of Study should be developed in consultation with your adviser.
How do I submit a Plan of Study? The Plan of Study can be delivered to the Graduate College in any of the following ways; however, email is preferred:

How do I know if my Plan of Study is approved? After the Dean of the Graduate College has approved and signed your Plan of Study, Degree Completion Services will send an email notification to your FAU email account from graduatesupport@fau.edu.
Can I get a copy of my approved Plan of Study? Yes. There are three ways to obtain a PDF copy of your Plan of Study:Email: Email: graduatesupport@fau.edu from your FAU email account.
Include your full name and Z number in the body of your email.
Advisor: Your advisor or a staff member in your college can provide you with a copy of your
Plan of Study from VIP (an electronic document storage system).
Graduate College: Pick up a copy from the Graduate College office at SU-80, Room 102G, Boca Raton
campus. For security purposes, you will be required to show picture ID.
I need to change a course on my Plan of Study. What do I do? Submit a Revision to Existing Plan of Study (Form 9). Revisions need only be filed one-time and may be submitted during the final term in which the student plans to graduate.
One of my committee members has changed. Do I need a new Plan of Study? You must submit a Revision to Existing Plan of Study (Form 9). You do not need a new Plan of Study form.
