Program Requirements
International students must meet the same academic requirements as domestic students for the degree program in which they are applying. Information about the academic requirements for each program offered by Florida Atlantic University is available by referencing the Graduate Program Summary and checking the program's department website.
Application Deadlines
Application deadlines for the degree programs vary. Please check this list for the International Application Deadline for your desired program.
International Applicant Requirements
In addition to meeting the academic requirements, international applicants must complete the following:
- All applicants who have completed all or part of their education abroad are required to have their foreign credentials evaluated by an independent evaluation service that is a NACES member. For a list of evaluation services please see the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) Members website. Each graduate program requires a specific type of credential evaluation for international students. For information about your specific graduate program, click here. If your program requires a general evaluation (document by document), you still must send certified translated transcripts to the Graduate College.
- All applicants must furnish evidence of proficiency in English by submitting scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). This test is not offered at FAU; it must be taken elsewhere. Applicants from English-speaking countries and those who have completed a minimum of two years of post-secondary education in the United States are exempt from this requirement.

- In order to receive an I-20 form, all supporting documents (Financial Certification Form, Visa Clearance Form) and entry documents, e.g., the passport, must be issued in the same name. The names on all the documents must be listed in the same order.
- A completed Financial Certification Form (FCF) and bank letters (in English with amounts in USD) showing specific sources of financial support and the exact amounts expected from each source must be submitted. Financial documentation cannot be more than six months old at the time you begin your studies at FAU. FAU cannot issue an I-20 form until these documents are received. The order of your names on the FCF must match the order on your entry documents (passport or other official/legal documents that you will be using to enter the United States). This will be the name used on the SEVIS I-20.
- Students with an F-1 Visa transferring from another U.S. college or university to FAU must complete an International Student Visa Clearance Form as part of the admission process. FAU cannot issue an I-20 form until the Visa Clearance Form is completed by the International Coordinator of the previous school attended.

A completed application, all required documentation, and the $30.00 USD application fee must be submitted before the application deadline for the term for which the application is made. The application fee can be paid online by credit card or can be mailed in the form of a check, money order, or U.S. traveler’s check (all must be drawn on a U.S. bank). Please mail to:
