Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellowships (website, application)

Through the Dissertation Fellowship Program, the Spencer Foundation aims to build capacity in the education research community by supporting a new generation of scholars from a wide range of fields. Please refer to the website or .pdf application link for more details.

FBI - Common Knowledge Scholarship   (website, register)

This scholarship is based on what you know.  Four (4) $1000 first place cash scholarships will be awarded every week during the month of December. No essays, no minimum GPA, or financial background information  is required.  Register at the link located above to find out more information.

Walmart Foundation Scholarship (website)

Students across the country benefit significantly from Wal-Mart's involvement in their town and surrounding communities. We believe that one of the most important ways to assist local communities is by supporting local needs and focusing our giving to the areas that our customers feel are important. Sallie Mae Fund Scholarships (website, flyer)

Delivered through The Fund's Project Access program, these scholarships target low income and minority populations in an effort to increase access to higher education. Project Access addresses three key barriers to higher education-awareness of financial aid, academic performance and financial need. To be eligible for The Sallie Mae Fund scholarship programs, students must be accepted and enrolled at a Title IV eligible, accredited post-secondary two- or four-year college or university, vocational, or technical school in the United States or Puerto Rico and meet program-specific eligibility requirements. The Sallie Mae Fund scholarship programs include:

  • The Sallie Mae Fund "Community College Transfer Scholarship" Offered in collaboration with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, this program provided scholarships to Latino students transferring from a community college to an approved, accredited higher education institution.  If you have specific questions about this program that are not answered on HSF's website, please email HSF or call 1-877-473-4636.

Imagine America - Military Award Program (MAP)   (website)

This program has been established to assist thousands of military personnel each year pursue post secondary career education at hundreds of career colleges across the nation. National Law Enforcement & Firefighters Children's Foundation   (website)

The National Law Enforcement and Firefighters Children's Foundation Scholarship Awards are for children of law enforcement and firefighting personnel who were lost in the line of duty. These awards are designed to reward excellence, recognize accomplishments and help students by providing funding for their post secondary education at qualified institutions. Broward Shell Club Scholarship ( website )

This scholarship is available for undergraduate or graduate students majoring in the field of marine biology at local colleges or universities.  The guidelines for the award are very simple. The student's coursework should include some aspect of malacology (taxonomy, habitat studies, pollution effects, DNA analysis, etc.) and the applicant will be requested to make a presentation to the Club about their research and how the award assisted them in their goals. Stop by the Financial Aid office on the Boca campus to obtain a copy of the application.

 

Business Scholarship (more info & application)
Awarded to eligible undergraduate students who are interested in pursing bachelor level degrees related to business management, information systems management, marketing, finance, accounting, human resource management, and entrepreneurship.  Selection is based on academic history, extracurricular activities and employment history.  Deadline to apply is April 1, 2013.  For more details, click on the link above.
                                                 

Florida Surveying & Mapping Society Scholarship ( application )
The Space Coast Chapter of FSMS is offering scholarships to students pursuing courses in Geomatics and Land Surveying. Preference is given to applicants residing in Brevard County but all Florida residents can apply.  Applicants must also maintain a 2.5 GPA overall and 3.0 GPA in Surveying Curriculum courses.  Click on the application link above for more details and application.
    
      
Federal Government Internships for Civil Engineering Students ( website )
The Indian Health Services (a federal government agency of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and the U.S. Public Health Services) is seeking civil, construction, and environmental engineering interns.  Internships generally occur during the summer months, but are also available at other times of the year.  Students must be U.S. citizens and must have completed their sophomore year at the time the internship occurs.  Students can gain valuable engineering experience while receiving competitive pay, reimbursement for travel, and other medical and government benefits.   Fore more information, click on the website link above or contact CDR Javier B. Geographical Information System (GIS) Engineering Internships

AFSCME/UNCF/Harvard University LWP Union Scholars Program 2012  ( website )
We believe the future is in the hands of those with the ability and desire to change the world. People like you.  That is why we are co-sponsoring the AFSCME/UNCF/Harvard University LWP Union Scholars Program. Our public service union, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), has joined with Harvard University and the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to let those of you who qualify experience what it is like to be part of the labor movement. You can work on the front lines of a real union organizing campaign, where you will talk to workers about gaining a voice on the job, fair wages and benefits for themselves and their families ...by joining a union. You will get an opportunity to do the day-to-day work of outreach to workers by phone and on home visits, campaign research and material development. But the best part is that you will have a chance to make a difference in the lives of people. GE-REAGAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP ( website )
This scholarship acknowledges and rewards America's foremost young leaders who demonstrate the leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship exhibited by President Reagan throughout his life.  This scholarship will award 20 recipients at $10,000 each to be used towards tuition, fees, housing and meal plans.  Candidates must demonstrate at school, at work and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship, demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum of 3.0), demonstrate financial need, be a U.S. citizen and must be a high school senior graduating in winter 2012 or spring 2013 who plans to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited fou-year college or university in the U.S. during the 2013-2014 academic year.  The application deadline is January 10, 2013 or until 25,000 applications have been submitted (whichever comes first).  For more information on this scholarship and how to apply, please click on the link above.

SOROPTIMIST SCHOLARSHIP ( website )
This volunteer organization is for business and professional women committed to improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.  This organization seeks to assist women with primary financial responsibility for supporting their family while furthering their education in an undergraduate or vocational skills training program.  This program offers a cash reward of $500 on the local level and then goes to regional and national competitions where there are additional awards. Eligible applicants are women who provide the primary financial support for her dependents, demonstrate financial need, enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.  The application deadline is December 15, 2012.  For more information on this scholarship and how to apply, please click the link above. 

AWS DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIP ( website )
The American Welding Society (AWS) Foundation is dedicated to meeting the needs for education and research in the field of welding and related joining technologies.  This scholarship is assist recipients with the costof tuition, books, supplies and other related institutional costs.  Applicants must be enrolled in a welding-related educational or training program at a college or university in the U.S., and possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.  In addition to completing the scholarship application, applicants must also enclose the statement of unmet financial aid need (your school's financial aid office would need to complete a section on this form), transcripts, a personal statement, biography and a photo.  The application deadline is March 2, 2013.  For more information on this scholarship and how to apply, please click the link above.

AWS NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS ( website )
The American Welding Society Foundation has expanded its national scholarship program which includes numerous of individual scholarships.  Theses scholarships are for students pursuing a specific degree at an accredited four-year college of university.  The application deadline is February 15, 2013.  For more information on each national scholarship and how to apply, please click the link above.

MINORITIES IN GOVERNMENT FINANCE SCHOLARSHIP ( website )
This scholarship is available to full-time or part-time upper-division undergraduate or graduate students majoring in public administration (governmental), accounting, finance, political science, economics or business administration (with a specific focus on governmnet or non-profit management).  This scholarship is funded by Siemens.   In addition, applicants must belong to one of the following groups:  Black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latino.  Must also be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. or Canada.  A recommendation letter by the student's academic advisor or department chair is required along with a resume, statement of proposed career plan, and transcripts must also be submitted.  The application deadline is February 22, 2013.  For more information on each national scholarship and how to apply, please click the link above.

JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION ( website )
The Johnson Foundation is offering scholarship aid to two different groups of students to attend colleges in Florida starting Fall 2013:

Applications must be mailed as directed in the applicable application.  No applications are to be mailed to the Johnson Scholarship Foundation.

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP ( website , application)
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) awards scholarships each year to deserving students.  Scholarship is available to qualified women students seeking educational funding.  Application must be postmarked before March 15, 2013.  For more details on the scholarsh, click on the website link and scholarship application above. 

FSAWWA OPERATORS COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP ( application )
The Wire Reinforcement Institute Education Foundation is sponsoring scholarships in amounts ranging from $1,500 to $3,000 to deserving and qualified students presently pursuing four (4) year undergraduate level degrees in structural and/or civil engineering at an accredited four (4) year university or college located in the United States or Canada. Scholarships awarded will not exceed one (1) year and will be awarded for a specified academic year only. WRI Scholarship recipients will also participate in the WRI Mentor Program for the year in which the scholarship is awarded. WIRE TRANSFER INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP ( website )
This scholarship will provide reimbursement of tuition, books, and fees through the College/University Financial Aid Department over the upcoming two year period. THE HOME SECURITY SCHOLARSHIP ( website )
Your LocalSecurity.com is awarding a $1,000 scholarship to the student with the most effective, compelling, and creative ideas to help curb crime in our communities.  Applicants will submit an essay on how to improve the safety of our nation's.  Your essay will be judged on creativity, clarity, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.  Application deadline is June 30, 2013. For more information and details on this scholarship, click the link above.

GOOD CITIZENS SCHOLARSHIP ( website )
Good citizens deserve help with college. That’s why we launched the TruFit Good Citizen Scholarship in 2011 to award  college scholarships to students whose volunteer efforts made a difference in their communities.  To apply, simply submit a 250-word or less essay or a 60-seconds or less video between April 1-19, 2013. Entries should demonstrate how you provide leadership in your community and include the number of hours that you commit to the organization.
