GREENFEST 2009 – Wednesday, November 4^th  “WEAR GREEN, THINK GREEN, BE GREEN”

The breezeway will be transformed to the GREENWAY!!

Join the celebrationof FAU CAMPUS SUSTAINABILITY in the Breezeway from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.The festivities will include:

• Campus Clean-up! Sign up for a campus clean-up by emailing volunteer@fau.edu (First 150 volunteers will receive a T-Shirt and a voucher for lunch). 

•  Over 40 local vendors/exhibitors committed to protecting our environment. (Chartwells, Office Depot, Home Depot, Sprint, Tri-Rail)

• Lots of “green” ideas for your home and work.

• A showcase of electric and hybrid vehicles.

• A fresh green market.

• Find out what FAU is doing to reduce our carbon footprint. Learn about some of FAU’s green initiatives.

• Human Powered Blender Contest (smoothies to be provided; using some form of alternative energy to operate the blender)

• Meet representatives from Mission Green Student Association and take part in many fun games and activities.

• Live Music, food and giveaways!
  Measure your carbon footprint

• Housing will promote events to be held in housing area in the evening (games, movie)

• Talk with student environmental groups/clubs as well as several non-profit groups.

• Listen to guest speaker, Mr. Roberto Borrero, Tribal Chairman of the United Confederation of Taino People and Sr. Program Coordinator for the American Museum of Natural History. Mr. Borrero will speak about “Mother Earth and the Importance of Sustainable Living”

The Mission Green Student Association, Students Advocating Volunteer Involvement and the Weppner Center for Civic Engagement & Service will be hosting the Greenfest Campus Clean-Up from 10am – 2pm on November 4th. There will be 4 one-hour shifts for the clean-up beginning at 10am with the last shift starting at 1pm. Participants will pick up trash in designated areas. A special T-shirt and lunch voucher (donated by Chartwells) will be available to those who participate in the clean-up.
