Pursuant to Chancellor's Memorandum CM-G-08.00-02/97 and under authority of Section 240.404 of the Florida Statutes it is the Office of Equal Opportunity's responsibility to implement and administer the MCCTS Program. The eligibility guidelines for this program follow.

Eligibility Guidelines:

A. Students who complete A.A. or A.S. degrees at the end of the spring term are eligible to apply for the scholarship during and immediately following the spring term of the academic year. All students must submit the required application materials by the stipulated deadline. The following categories of students may also apply.

B. Recipients must have received an A.A. or A.S. degree from an accredited Florida community college and matriculate into the junior year within the SUS. Students who have completed Associate's Degrees at accredited Florida community colleges and subsequently enrolled within a college or university prior to application for the scholarship are ineligible for the scholarship. Students who A.A. degrees prior to December of the preceding year in which application is made are also ineligible for the scholarship.

C. Recipients must have participated in, received a wavier for, or passed (students with A.A. degrees) the College-Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) program. Pursuant to Section 240.107, Florida Statutes, waivers pertaining to completion of the CLAST will be recognized.

D. Male applicants must comply with Selective Service System registration requirements.

E. Each scholarship provides a stipend to be distributed in two equal payments during an academic year. Contingent upon funding by the Florida Legislature, scholarships are available for up to six (6) semesters provided the recipient is meeting the minimum scholarship requirements.

F. Merit and need/merit recipients must have, and maintain, a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 point scale) on all credits earned. Students who fall below the 3.0 average may make appeal for continued eligibility.

G. Need recipients must have, and maintain, a minimum of a 2.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 point scale) on all credits earned. Students who earn a minimum of number of credits required for renewal, but who fall below the 2.0 average may make appeal for continued eligibility. Pursuant to Section 240.404, Florida Statutes, a probationary period may be granted for up to the equivalent of one academic year.

H. Pursuant to Section 240.404, Florida Statutes, students who fail to earn the minimum number of credits required for renewal shall lose eligibility for renewal for a period equivalent to one academic year.

I. Need and need/merit recipients must complete the appropriate financial need analysis form (FAFSA) for each academic year in which they apply for the scholarship.

J. Previous recipients must reapply by submitting the appropriate application materials for each academic year in which they desire the scholarship.

K. Alternate award recipients of the scholarship must meet all minimum eligibility requirements at the time of award in order to receive forfeited scholarship monies.

Scholarship Application Process
Students interested in continuing their education at Florida Atlantic University, and applying for the MCCTS should inquire at their Community College Financial Aid Office in February.

MCCTS Scholarship Application

As of the 1999-2000 academic year the selection process was relegated to each SUS university by the Board of Regents. Each university is responsible for development of its own selection procedures, application forms and relevant deadlines. These procedures, forms and deadlines may differ significantly between SUS universities.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT STUDENTS PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO WHAT FORMS THEY ARE COMPLETING, AND FOR WHAT UNIVERSITY. THERE IS NO UNIVERSAL APPLICATION FORM, AND ONLY FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY APPLICATION FORMS OR COPIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AT FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY. Any application materials received after the deadline printed on the application will not be considered. Transcripts must accompany application materials submitted by first-time applicants. Electronic transferred transcripts will not fulfill this requirement.
