Irving Berlin is American music.” This remarkable tale tells how a young man who lived in unbelievable and absolutely the lowest depths of poverty, found a way to become, not just a genius in the theatre, but an American hero. It is truly an inspirational American story about how a little Jewish boy grew up to write great music and become a superstar in the annals of Broadway. In this one time very special live performance, Dr. Herb Keyser and Bett Butler will present Berlin’s life story through commentary and his unforgettable music. Bett has an extraordinary performing style and talent, which will challenge attendees to repress the urge to sing along with her. At the end of the performance, attendees are invited to meet Butler and Keyser at a book signing of Keyser’s latest work
BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Dr. Herb Keyser, obstetrician-gynecologist, is the author of five books, the latest being Geniuses of the American Musical Theatre. He has made many appearances on Nightline with Ted Koppel, the Regis Philbin Show, CNN, HBO, and on many television and radio shows, both network and regional. For the past eight years, he has performed at sea on prestigious cruise lines, presenting the stories of the life and music of Broadway geniuses. Keyser, along with Bett Butler, has appeared in many sold-out performances in New York, Texas and Florida.Bett Butler is recognized as the premier piano/jazz vocalist in San Antonio, Texas. She is a pianist, recording artist and composer of high renown, and has received several national and international awards for her compositions. Her latest album, American Sampler, went to the top of the iTunes American Songbook list immediately after release. Bett has also received the designations of “Artist of the Month” and a “Woman of Influence” from cultural organizations and the City of San Antonio.
