DESCRIPTION: Using the journalism and photographs of muckraker Jacob Riis, participants will be taken back to a community that had an amazing impact on the whole of American society. Through many voices of the past , this nostalgic history will be revived. From the early tenement conditions to the modern day , the history of the Lower-East-Side is an unforgettable story that still fascinates us all. Delmont, a Lower-East-Sider herself, will take you on an imaginary “tour” of the popular Orchard Street Tenement Museum, one of New York’s most popular tourist attractions.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Ronelle Delmont was born on the Lower-East-Side of NYC and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn. Her further education (after dropping out of Hunter College, where she was a music major) was at Broward Community College/Davie and Florida International University (BS - International Relations). Her eclectic background includes; owning an antique shop in Greenwich Village, owner of an entertainment agency, a stint working for Pan Am Airlines and lecturing for Osher Lifelong Learning. Since 1996 Delmont has been a book reviewer & lecturer throughout South Florida. She is currently writing a book on the subject of the Lindbergh baby kidnapping and trial. She is the publisher of an in-depth, controversial website on that subject (www.lindberghkidnappinghoax.com). She is married to Parisian-born singer and agent, Daniel Delmont.
