JEWISH SONG THROUGH THE AGES
Performer/Lecturer: Dr. Marianne Sanua
Jewish men and women have been raising their
voices in song, in multiple languages, since the dawn
of their history. Come take a musical journey
through Jewish life and culture from ancient times to
the present century through performance and
explanation of special songs in Hebrew, Yiddish and
Ladino.
Biographical Information: Dr. Marianne Sanua received her B.A. from Princeton University and her Ph.D. in Jewish history from Columbia after several years of study at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. Dr. Sanua came to Boca Raton in 1998 and is an associate professor of American Jewish History and Culture at FAU in its Jewish Studies program. In addition to being an author and professor, Dr. Sanua is a musician with many years experience performing and teaching in a wide variety of Jewish communal settings.
