A CELEBRATION OF JEWISH STORYTELLING
Performance/Lecturer: Dr. Caren S. Neile
Long before the Jews were the People of the Book, they were the People of the Spoken Word. Biblical, secular, Yiddish or folkore -- Jewish stories share a common thread of wit and wisdom. Come enjoy a provocative discussion of Jewish story-
tellers and storytelling, followed by a highly entertaining concert of Jewish stories, old and new.
Biographical Information: Caren S. Neile, MFA, Ph.D., is artist-in-residence and founding director of the South Florida Storytelling Project in the FAU School of Communication & Multimedia Studies. A graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary, she recently served as a Fulbright Scholar at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Her work is featured in the Encyclopedia of Jewish-American Literature and in the book Elie Wiesel and the Art of Storytelling, and her article on Jewish women storytellers appears in the Spring 2008 issue of Lilith magazine. Dr. Neile’s LLS evalu-ations are rated very highly by her students.
