SIX PROFESSORS AND THEIR SEARCH
FOR KNOWLEDGE
Faculty Recipients of the LLS Travel Grant
In the College of Arts and Letters
Course Description: The LLS faculty is the key ingredient in the program’s success. In the spring of 2007, LLS provided the Arts and Letters College with a gift to support faculty travel to attend professional conferences, to do research in the field and to interact with colleagues at other institutions. This professional activity allowed faculty members to continue their search for knowledge and, in the process, to improve their teaching skills.
This course will be taught by the six recipients of the LLS Travel Grant. Each instructor will give one lecture on a topic from his or her discipline and of interest to the LLS student. They will also highlight the significance of their travel grant to their research and teaching interests. The course will be interdisciplinary in nature and provide the student with an excellent overview of the liberal arts.
Six Lectures:
March 26 Noemi Marin. From Banned Rhetoric to Public Legitimacy: Religion and National Discourse in Post-Communist Romania
April 2 Ryan Moore. “The Authoritarian Personality, Past and Present: Historical Comparisons of Authoritarian Social Psychology”
April 9 Simon Glynn. “China’s Century: A Cultural, Political and Economic View and Analysis of China, its aspirations and prospects”
