The Lifelong Learning Society for adult learners was established
here on the Boca Raton campus of Florida Atlantic University in
1980. With more than 10,000 active members, the LLS program in
Boca Raton is a national model of exemplary lifelong learning.
Most of our lectures are held in the Barry and Florence Friedberg
Lifelong Learning Auditorium, an attractive 500-seat auditorium
donated by the generous support of the Friedbergs and hundreds of
LLS students. It is a custom-designed auditorium with wide aisles,
an outstanding audiovisual system, superior accoustics and standards
providing accessiblity and comfort for the physically challenged.
Lectures are presented in the Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.
Lectures run for eight weeks in the Fall and Winter and six weeks
during the Spring and Summer. Four-week courses and single performance/lectures
are also offered.
Florida Atlantic University regular
teaching faculty comprise the
core of this program. Adjunct professors, professors from other
local universities and colleges, and distinguished
national and international lecturers
are invited to participate.
