Interim Co-Director of Florida/Israel Institute Named
BOCA RATON, FL (October 17, 2005) - Dr. Zvi Roth, professor of electrical engineering and former chair of that department at Florida Atlantic University, has been named interim co-director of the Florida/Israel Institute (FII), while continuing his work at FAU as a faculty member. Roth will oversee the administration of the FII on a part-time basis with co-director Dr. Daniel Rieger, Broward Community College faculty member. A search for a permanent director will be underway soon.
"I am thrilled to be entrusted with this new mission. We all thank my predecessor Nancy Rosen for a decade of dedicated leadership of the FII. Stepping into her shoes will be a true challenge," said Roth. "Being a faculty member, I naturally place strong emphasis on academic collaboration between the Florida higher education institutes and their outstanding counterparts in Israel, fostering faculty and student exchange and promoting joint research."
Created in 1988, The FII is one of 11 linkage institutes developed by the Florida legislature. Co-sponsored by FAU and BCC, the FII was developed to enhance cultural, social, academic and business activities between Florida and Israel.
