Lee Greenwood Scheduled for FAU vs OSU Halftime
Game sponsored by ADT will salute military police and fire departments
BOCA RATON, FL (September 1, 2005) -Lee Greenwood, country music superstar, will perform at Florida Atlantic University's football game against Oklahoma State University, scheduled for September 8 beginning at 7 p.m. at Dolphins Stadium.
"We have been working hard to make the FAU-Oklahoma State game a South Florida event," said Dexter LaMont, FAU's assistant AD for marketing and corporate sales. "In addition to the game being nationally televised, we will honor our nation's armed forces and host a collection center for the American Red Cross and hurricane relief. The addition of Lee Greenwood, a symbol of American Pride, will be the highlight of the halftime presentation."
The performance by Greenwood, best known for his 2001 hit song "Proud to be an American," is just one of several external events that will take place at the game. In addition, FAU's athletics department will sell the Howard Schnellenberger bobble heads for $10. Half of the proceeds from this doll will go to the American Red Cross, which will also have a collection booth.
Members of the military, police and fire departments are asked to present an ID card at Gate F for courtesy tickets, sponsored by ADT. For more information call 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
