FAU Team Helps Fight Breast Cancer

BOCA RATON, FL (September 22, 2005) - Florida Atlantic University Professor Dennis Palkon has teamed up again with the American Cancer Society to raise money for its "Making Strides against Breast Cancer" walk. The event will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 22 at Spanish River Park, 3001 N. State Road A1A. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

Each year, Dr. Palkon, faculty advisor for FAU's American College of HealthCare Financial Administrators, captains a widely successful fundraising team effort. The team, this year named "Palkon's Pirates," has helped raise over $15,000 in five previous drives. Anyone can walk with the team or give a donation to help "Palkon's Pirates."

"There are so many FAU faculty, staff and students who know of someone diagnosed with breast cancer," said Dr. Palkon. "It is encouraging to me that we can help financially support this fight. It is one fight that we are truly winning."
