FAU Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing
Welcomes Fulbright Scholar
BOCA RATON, FL (August 31, 2005) - Florida Atlantic University's Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing has welcomed Roosevelt Jean-Francois, a Fulbright Research Scholar from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, who is on a six-month assignment through December 10.
Jean-Francois will be teaching a class about the Haitian experience, which will include the culture, traditions and public health in Haiti. It will also look at the political turmoil going on in the country and its relationship with the United States.
"I look forward to teaching classes about the Haitian experience and getting feedback," said Jean-Francois. "I also want to better understand what Florida is doing for Haitians and how they are living over here."
Jean-Francois comes from the University of Haiti, where he teaches in the National Institute of Higher Studies and International Relations. He is also the President of the Board on the Haitian Center for Communication on AIDS and Public Health. A newspaper and radio announcer in Haiti since 1998, Jean-Francois was nominated as best reporter for Health Issues and HIV coverage by the Haitian Association of Journalists.
