FAU Hosts Reception for Chambers of Commerce
BOCA RATON, FL (June 16, 2005) - A reception, hosted by FAU President Frank T. Brogan and Mrs. Courtney Brogan, was held at the Eleanor R. Baldwin House to honor the trustees of the Greater Boca Raton and Greater Fort Lauderdale chambers of commerce. The event brought more than 100 people to the Boca Raton campus. FAU Head Football Coach Howard Schnellenberger was there to meet and greet the guests.
"FAU is so pleased to sponsor this event that has so successfully brought together representatives from the Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale chambers of commerce," said Ann Paton, vice president for University Advancement. "Both chambers have attracted a strong and responsive leadership. The reception was the perfect way of showcasing the many dedicated members of both organizations."
Among those in attendance were Boca Raton Mayor Steve Abrams, FAU Foundation Chair Betty Zinman, Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce President and CEO M.J. "Mike" Arts, Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Christopher Pollock '78, FAU benefactor Eleanor Baldwin, FAU National Alumni Association President Thomas Workman '71, FAU Foundation Board member Dr. Ira J. Gelb, Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations Pat Breman and FAU Director of Athletics Craig Angelos.

Florida Atlantic University opened its doors in 1964 as the fifth public university in Florida.
