FAU Faculty Member Receives Fulbright Grant
BOCA RATON, FL (June 24, 2005) - Dr. Rozzano Locsin, a nursing professor at Florida Atlantic University, has received a Fulbright Senior Specialists grant in public/global health at the St. Paul University Philippines, Philippines. This grant is awarded by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Department of State (ECA) and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FSB).
The Fulbright Senior Specialist Program offers two to six week grants to leading U.S. academics and professionals to support curricular and faculty development and institutional planning at academic institutions in 140 countries. Created to complement the traditional Fulbright Scholar Program, the Senior Specialists Program aims at increasing the number of faculty and professionals who have the opportunity to go abroad on a Fulbright grant.
In 2003, Locsin received the Excellence in Undergraduate award in teaching from FAU. His areas of interest for research are in technology and caring in nursing, music listening and its effects on painful situations and holistic nursing practice.
