FAU Libraries Mark Start of Building Expansion with Groundbreaking on May 19
BOCA RATON, FL (May 16, 2005) - Florida Atlantic University Libraries will mark the beginning of construction on the Paul C. Wimbish Wing with a photo opportunity on May 19 at 9:30 a.m., on the east side of the Wimberly Library on the Boca Raton campus. FAU President Frank T. Brogan '81, library administrators, and key donors to this project will be present to meet with the media.
The five-story wing has been funded with generous support from Virginia and Peter MacEachron and their son John MacEachron of the Wimbish family; Mata Jaffe, the late wife of benefactor Arthur Jaffe; the FAU Student Government Association; and Hillel of Broward/Palm Beach. Some of the funds have been matched by the state.
The Wimbish Wing will contain a new All Night Study Room, more than double the space currently held by the "Arthur and Mata Jaffe Collection: Books as Aesthetic Objects," and expand space for special collections. In addition, it will provide a home for the Southeast Florida Library Information Network (SEFLIN) and Hillel. For more information, contact Terri Berns, FAU Libraries' director of communications and cultural affairs, at 561-297-1164 or tberns@fau.edu.
