FAU Hosts Ted Wasserman
to Speak on Early Intervention for Autistic Children
BOCA RATON, FL (April 7, 2005) - Florida Atlantic University presents Dr. Ted Wasserman to speak as part of its Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) Autism Spring Lecture Series. His lecture will focus on early intervention for children with autism in their natural environment. The lecture will begin on Tuesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in FAU's University Center, Majestic Palm Room, Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Rd.
Wasserman is the director of The Early Steps Program at St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach. As a child neuro-psychologist, he provides diagnoses and manages the delivery of a vast array of evaluation and intervention services to children with autism and other disabilities.
Autism is a disorder that affects behavior, communication and social skills, usually by age three. FAU's CARD provides services in Palm Beach for those with autism and other disabilities, their families and the community. This lecture series was created in an effort to foster community understanding of the needs of these individuals.
