FAU Symposium on Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals
BOCA RATON (April 18, 2005) Florida Atlantic University faculty join several experts to present a symposium entitled Nazi Persecution of the Homosexuals, on Friday, April 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. The symposium will be held in the Auditorium of the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art at One East Las Olas Boulevard in Ft. Lauderdale. This event is free and open to the public, though attendees should call to reserve a seat as space is limited.
The event will be moderated by Rosanna Gatens, director of the Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education at FAU. Presentations include:

Nazi Strategies for Ending Homosexuality: Why and How the Government and the Police Went About It, with Geoffrey Giles, Department of History at the University of Florida and senior scholar-in-residence at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, 2000-2001;
- In the Name of the People: Policing Homosexuality After Hitler, with Jennifer Evans, Department of History at Carleton University in Ottawa;
- Reflections on a Century of Genocide, with Alan Berger, Raddock Family Eminent Scholar Chair for Holocaust Studies at FAU; and
- " It Can't Happen Here?: Homosexuality and American Public Opinion, with Fred Fejes, Department of Communication at FAU.
