FAU Presents Premier Dance Performance
Florida Atlantic Universitys School of the Arts will present its first dance performance, Dances We Dance on Wednesday, May 4 at 8 p.m. in the University Theatre on FAUs Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. General admission is $5, and tickets may be purchased at the door one hour prior to performance. Proceeds from admission will benefit FAUs dance program.
The performance will include a wide variety of dance forms including hip hop, break dancing, African dance, musical theatre selections and more. All dances were conceived, choreographed and are performed by students in FAUs modern and jazz classes.
The performance is the first public dance performance at FAU, with a new dance program under the direction of choreographer Clarence Brooks. Brooks was formerly the dance director at the Bak Middle School of the Arts in Riviera Beach. He has been involved in FAUs theatre program in the past, choreographing musicals for FAUs annual summer festival repertory theatre. Now a member of FAUs theatre faculty, Brooks is also on the board of Florida Dance Educators and the Florida Dance Association.
This performance is sponsored by FAUs Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. For further information about the concert, or about FAUs dance classes, you may call 561-297-0266.
