FAU Presents Concert of Masterworks for Chamber Winds
BOCA RATON, FL (March 15, 2005) - Florida Atlantic University's School of the Arts presents Masterworks for Chamber Winds, a concert by FAU faculty and students with guest soprano Wendy Reynolds, on Saturday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will take place at the University Theatre on FAU's Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. General admission is $15 with group discounts available. FAU students, faculty, staff and alumni may obtain free admission with ID.
The wind faculty of FAU, performing side-by-side with FAU's finest students, will present works by Mozart, Dvorak and Rossini for small wind ensemble. Wendy Reynolds will add her artistry in a performance of well-known opera arias. The repertoire will include Mozart's Serenade in C minor, K 388 for wind octet; Dvorak's Serenade in D minor op. 44 for winds, cello and bass; Rossini's Overture to "The Barber of Seville" set by Sedlak for 11 winds and brass; and opera arias by Wendy Reynolds, accompanied by both the chamber winds and pianist Heather Coltman.
Reynolds' vocal career began in musical theatre, with performances as Golde in "Fiddler on the Roof," Sarah in "Company" and Kate in "Kiss Me, Kate." She makes frequent solo appearances in both recital and oratorio, as well as in concert with orchestra. Currently, she is a soloist for First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boca Raton.
Tickets may be purchased by calling 561-297-2977 or emailing artstickets@fau.edu, or they may be purchased one hour prior to the performance. The concerts are presented by the School of the Arts' Department of Music in FAU's Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, in partnership with Bank of America and the Palm Beach County Cultural Council.
