Susan Eisenhower to Speak at FAU Distinguished Series on the American Presidency
BOCA RATON, FL (February 3, 2005) - Former President Dwight Eisenhower's granddaughter, Susan Eisenhower, will speak on Thursday, February 17 as part of Florida Atlantic University's Distinguished Lecture Series on the American Presidency. She will speak on U.S.-Russian policy and analyze the dynamics of recent U.S.-Russian relations in a politically charged world.
Eisenhower's lecture will begin on Thursday, February 17 at 9:45 a.m. on FAU's Jupiter campus at the Abacoa Crown Theater, 4688 Main Street, Jupiter and at 6:30 p.m. at FAU's Boca Raton campus, Lifelong Learning Auditorium, 777 Glades Rd.
Eisenhower has worked on improving U.S.-Soviet and then U.S.-Russian relations, while placing special emphasis on the changing political, economic and social developments in the former Soviet Union. As president of the Eisenhower World Affairs Institute, she was the co-chairman of the first open and televised bilateral policy debate in Soviet history, and later designed and implemented the Institute's U.S.-Soviet program.
Eisenhower is currently president of the Eisenhower Group, Inc., which provides political, economic, trade and investment advice to major companies including IBM and American Express. She is a senior director of Stonebridge International, a Washington-based international consulting firm. Eisenhower also has served as the founder and chairman of the Center for Political and Strategic Studies, a non-profit organization that conducts research, holds symposiums and provides political analysis on foreign policy topics.
Eisenhower was elected to the National Academy of Sciences' standing Committee on International Security and Arms Control. Additionally, she was recently appointed by the White House Millennium Committee and the National Trust for Historic Preservation as co-chairman of Save America's Treasurers. In the last year, Eisenhower was also appointed to the National Advisory Council of the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA).
Eisenhower has written three books, two of which - Breaking Free and Mrs. Ike - have appeared on bestseller lists. She has edited four collection volumes on regional security issues such as her most recent Partners in Space (2004) and has hundreds of opinion page pieces and other articles for publication. Eisenhower has also provided analysis for National Public Radio and network television programs.
