FAU to Host Ceramic Workshops and Lecture
BOCA RATON, FL (February 22, 2005) - Florida Atlantic University's Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters presents ceramics artist Ron Meyers who will host two ceramics workshops and a ceramics lecture. The workshop demonstrations will be held Tuesday, March 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday, March 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both workshops will take place in the Visual Arts Building, Room 112 on FAU's Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. The lecture will be held on Tuesday, March 1 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Social Sciences Building, Room 250 on FAU's Boca Raton campus. The workshops and lecture are free and open to the public.
Meyers is an internationally known ceramic artist who has been working in clay for over 30 years. He is a pioneer in the art of ceramics through his altered, wheel thrown pieces and his dedication to functional pottery. Meyers received his M.F.A from the School for American Craftsmen, Rochester Institute of Technology in 1967. He has since spread his knowledge as an educator in various arenas including workshops all over the world. In this workshop, Meyers will share the methods he uses to turn his thrown forms into artistic masterpieces.
This event is sponsored by the FAU's Potters' Guild and Student Government. The Potters' Guild is an educational and social group established to help promote and stimulate the development of the individual ceramic artist.
