FAU Potters' Guild Holiday Show and Sale
BOCA RATON, FL (November 29, 2004) - The Florida Atlantic University Potters' Guild will hold its annual show and sale from Wednesday, December 8 through Saturday, December 11 at Patch Reef Community Center, 2000 Yamato Road, Boca Raton. The show hours are Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m, with an opening reception at 6 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
The show, in its 30th year, will have 25 students, alumni artists and faculty displaying works ranging from functional pottery to decorative and sculptural pieces. Joan Carew, a FAU ceramics alumna from Coral Springs, is this year's featured artist. Carew uses a variety of ceramic methods to create her unique works that have been influenced by nature and her recent travels abroad.
Part of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the ceramics program in the Department of Visual Arts and Art History, a component of the School of the Arts in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters at FAU. For more information on the show and sale, call 561-297-2289.
