FAU's InternetCoast Institute to Host U.S. Department of Energy Deputy Secretary Kyle McSlarrow

Boca Raton, FL (October 25, 2003) - South Florida's InternetCoast will be holding its fourth quarter general meeting at Florida Atlantic University. Hosted by FAU's InternetCoast Institute, the meeting will include many prominent speakers, including Kyle McSlarrow, U.S. Department of Energy Deputy Secretary. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 26 at 3 p.m at the Live Oak Pavilion on FAU's Boca Raton Campus, 777 Glades Road.

"We are thrilled to have some of the most instrumental leaders in science, technology and education speaking on behalf of the InternetCoast," said Michael Corbit, executive director of InternetCoast. "Each speaker shares a regional vision for South Florida and will speak to how the InternetCoast plays a catalytic role in the growth and success of regionalism."

Addressing the general meeting are some of today's most significant business and technology leaders. The distinguished list of speakers includes: Kyle McSlarrow, United States Deputy Secretary of Energy; Barbara Wortmann, president of the National Science & Technology Education Partnership (NSTEP); Fred Yentz, senior vice-president of RadiSys; Dr. Art Johnson, Palm Beach County School Superintendent, and FAU President Frank T. Brogan.

Immediately following the meeting, the InternetCoast Institute will host its Second Annual Industry Reception. Keynote speakers will include Dr. Karl Stevens, FAU's Dean of Engineering, and Dr. Celeste Beck, Palm Beach Community College Provost, Boca Raton campus.

The InternetCoast Institute at Florida Atlantic University works cooperatively with individuals and organizations regionally and nationally. Its first component is the Adams Center for IT Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital. The second component is the development of an office for Workforce Development that focuses on generating new opportunities for FAU technology students, as well as contributing to businesses at large.
