FAU Introduces New Graduate Degree in Finance
BOCA RATON, FL (September 22, 2004) - Florida Atlantic University's Board of Trustees recently approved a Master of Science Degree in Finance. This unique degree, housed in the College of Business, provides more direct emphasis on the field of finance than do traditional business masters degrees.
The new degree will provide educational opportunities for business baccalaureate degree holders who wish to further their knowledge in the specialty of finance. The degree requires 30 graduate credits, and those candidates who do not hold business baccalaureates need an additional nine credits of preparatory courses.
All candidates will complete three finance courses, two accounting courses, one economics course and one graduate communications course. Each candidate will also complete three elective courses in finance, which affords students flexibility as well as the opportunity to pursue an area of interest within the field.
FAU's Master of Science in finance graduates will acquire specialty skills which will prepare them for employment in areas such as corporate finance, the financial services industry, the investment services industry, not-for-profit businesses, government and health administration. They might also pursue doctoral level degrees in finance, public finance, health administration or other business areas.
FAU plans to attract commuter students from Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and northern Broward County to take advantage of this graduate degree.
