"Svelte Cities: A Formula for Economic Growth"
Dr. Clifford Bragdon Addresses Transportation Gridlock, Terrorism, Safety and Space Usage in South Florida
JUPITER, FL (September 16, 2004) - Florida Atlantic University's Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College will host a special presentation by distinguished professor Clifford R. Bragdon at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at the MacArthur campus auditorium, 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter. Dr. Bragdon will speak on "Svelte Cities: A Formula for Economic Growth."
Dr. Bragdon is a distinguished professor in FAU's College of Architecture, Urban & Public Affairs. He is also the executive director of the Consortium for Intermodal Transportation Safety and Security (CITSS), a Florida system wide center. The center is designed to address the potential threat of terrorism affecting the safety and general economic welfare of Florida's population and its transportation-based infrastructure. Its primary mission is to support initiatives by the state to protect and encourage the economic vitality of Florida by preventing both terrorism and transportation gridlock, which is estimated to cost the U.S. nearly $500 billion annually.
