FAU-FIU Football Game Rescheduled
BOCA RATON, FL Following the cancellation of the Florida Atlantic University-Illinois State University game, FAU Athletics Director Craig Angelos announced the Owls home contest against Florida International has been moved to December 4. The game, originally scheduled for November 20 at Pro Player Stadium, will keep its 4 pm kick-off.
Meanwhile, FAU and Illinois State are working towards rescheduling the game canceled this weekend due to hurricane Jeanne. Illinois State does not have a game the weekend of November 20 and the movement of the FAU/FIU game would open that weekend for FAU as well.
The FAU/FIU contest is billed as the Shula Bowl, in honor of Don Shula, under whom FAU head coach Howard Schnellenberger served as offensive coordinator and who FIU head coach Don Strock played. Shula Bowl III will serve as the un-official kick-off to the 2004-2005 bowl season and conclude the Owls five game home stand.
Fans that currently have tickets for the FAU/FIU contest are invited to use the tickets on December 4.
FAU will now kick-off its home season 4 pm, October 23 when the team plays host to Louisiana-Monroe and Parents Weekend.
