Robert Orr, President of Boeing Japan and FAU Graduate, to Lecture at FAU
BOCA RATON, FL (September 22, 2004) - Florida Atlantic University alumnae and Boeing Japan President Robert (Skipp) Orr brings an international perspective on business to his upcoming lecture "Going Global: Perception on a Changed World," which will be presented Thursday, September 23 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The lecture will be held in Room 101 of the Performing Arts Building on FAU's Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. The lecture is free and open to the public and a reception will follow.
Orr was named president of Boeing Japan in February 2002. He is responsible for coordinating all Boeing business activities in Japan and directing a country team comprised of business unit leaders from each sector of the company. Concurrently, he is vice chair of the National Association of Japan-America Societies for the 2003-2005 team.
Prior to his position with Boeing, Orr was vice president and director of European Affairs for Motorola N.V./S.A. in Brussels, Belgium. He was responsible for corporate relations with the European Union and its constituent institutions. Orr was also the vice president and director of government relations for Motorola Japan, and he spent four years as director of the office of government relations for Nippon Motorola in Tokyo.
Orr has also been an academician with positions at Temple University's Japan campus and at the Stanford Japan Center in Kyoto. Orr earned his B.A. from FAU, his M.S. from Georgetown University and his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Tokyo.
