FAU Welcomes Students To New Residence Halls

BOCA RATON, FL (September 23, 2004) - Almost 40 years ago, Florida Atlantic University built its first residence hall on the Boca Raton campus, housing 275 students. Today, approximately 1,800 students live in 7 residence halls on FAU's Boca Raton and Jupiter campuses. Most recently, FAU's Department of Housing welcomed approximately 600 new residents to Heritage Park Towers, FAU's newest, state-of-the-art residence halls. In celebration of the new towers, FAU is hosting a grand opening ceremony and tour of Heritage Park on Wednesday, September 29 at 2 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the lobby that connects the two towers.

"We are excited to open Heritage Park Towers for the 2004-2005 academic year," said Brad Sharp, interim director of housing. "We have recently completed a volleyball court and barbeque pavilion for our residential community. We are very proud of our newest addition, and the Housing and Residential Life team looks forward to continuing to meet the needs of our residents."

Heritage Park Towers are fully equipped with high-speed data ports for each person living in the towers. In addition, all rooms are wired for cable television and telephones. Every floor has a living/learning community room with data ports and cable television. There is also a study room for the students.

On the first floor, there is a computer lab and classroom where classes may be held. In the computer lab, students are able to access the internet, their university e-mail account, as well as all FAU on-line materials and information.
