ADT Sponsorship Allows FAU Football to Televise Away Schedule
Radio Network Formed

BOCA RATON, FL---Florida Atlantic University’s football program propelled itself into the national spotlight one season ago with a 10-game win streak, a berth in the NCAA Tournament culminating in mid December by hosting a national semifinal game. Becoming a member of the Sun Belt Conference, a league that is a BCS member, allowed the program to continue its rapid ascension into the NCAA Division I-A ranks. Just two weeks before the Owls open against the University of Hawaii, Athletic Director Craig Angelos announced a unique sponsorship by ADT Security Services, America's largest provider of electronic security systems and services with more than six million commercial, residential and government customers. The sponsorship will allow FAU to formulate an electronic media package that will showcase the football program.

“Coach Schnellenberger and I have felt strongly that the next step in our progress was to get our games on TV and dramatically increase our national visibility,” Angelos. “This will now be accomplished through the efforts of Coach Schnellenberger and ADT. We are extremely fortunate.”

Six road games will be available to Owl fans and will be produced by either ESPN Regional or FoxSports. The games are scheduled to air live and will be made available on Comcast’s College Sports Southeast (CSS), Adelphia, Fox Network, College Sports TV, and as a DirecTV option. The coverage will include more than six million homes, not including DirecTV, and will cover eight states.

Along with the television opportunities, FAU will also dramatically expand the FAU Football Radio Network, which will allow fans to tune into football games along a six-county stretch from the Florida Keys to north of Vero Beach.

The Owls have enjoyed their relationship with WLVJ 1040-AM, a station that covers most of Palm Beach, Broward and north Miami-Dade counties, the last two seasons and will add two more stations to form the FAU football Network. Completing the network will be WKAT 1360-AM in Miami and WPSL 1590-AM in Port St. Lucie, which will team with sister station WSTU 1450-AM in Stuart to saturate the Treasure Coast. Games will be heard in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties.

“The Florida Atlantic football team and I are extremely grateful to Michael Snyder and ADT for their generous support of our program,” head coach Howard Schnellenberger said. “Together we will be able to spread the word about the exciting saga of the FAU football program.”

The FAU Sports Page featuring head coach Howard Schnellenberger can be heard weekly on WLVJ 1040-AM and WKAT 1360-AM. He will appear weekly on 1400-AM The Fan with hosts Carl Foster and Frank Forte each Thursday to review the Owls and college football.

Schnellenberger will also be a weekly guest of Jeff Deforrest each Monday evening on WTCN Channel 15 where the duo will talk college football beginning at 8:30 pm. WTCN can be viewed from Boca Raton to Vero Beach and reaches more than 1.6 million homes.

Schnellenberger’s weekly television show will be produced and aired on Boca Raton Educational Television (BRET), scheduled for 7:30 pm Wednesday and Friday evenings. Most recently, BRET has added the streaming video feature that will allow the show to be viewed in its entirety via the internet at www.bretonline.tv.

FAU will also continue its internet coverage via www.fausports.com. Since inception, the Owls have carried their games on www.fausports.com and will continue to do so for all home and away contests. A new feature that will be added this year is streaming video. North Texas will be the first opportunity for FAU to showcase the feature. Fans will have the capability of watching the action live from a coach’s video view point. Streaming video will be used for each of the 17 sports in various aspects from live television type coverage to a one camera shot. In some instances, it will enhance the current use of “game tracker’ which provides live box scores and in others it will be a birds eye view for programs that may otherwise not be possible.

The FAU broadcast team includes Dave Lamont, who handles play-by-lay. Steve Walsh continues to provide color commentary while John McMahon handles sidelines, pre-game and halftime duties.

All of the coverage will be preceded by a Sunshine Network one-hour documentary entitled “Under the Lights”. The show, which will air August 27 at 7:30 pm and again August 28 at 10:30 am, will feature FAU building a football program from scratch and the efforts of Schnellenberger.
