FAU Vice President Tapped to Serve on
Research Committee of the American Heart Association
BOCA RATON, FL (August 13, 2004) - Florida Atlantic University Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Larry F. Lemanski, was recently appointed to serve on the American Heart Association (AHA) Florida/Puerto Rico Affiliate Research Committee. The appointment is for July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005.
The committee's mission is the reduction of disability and death due to cardiovascular diseases and stroke. In pursuit of this mission, the committee maintains a strong commitment to heart research.
Lemanski, the first vice president for research and graduate studies at FAU, is a professor of biomedical sciences, biology and chemistry. An internationally renowned researcher in the field of cellular, molecular and developmental biology, Lemanski has more than 280 research publications, book chapters and proceedings to his credit, as well as many presentations at national and international conferences.
His research, related to the embryology of heart development at the cellular and molecular levels, has garnered grants and awards from AHA, including the AHA Established Investigator Award, the AHA Louis N. Katz Basic Science Research Prize, and the Outstanding Researcher Award from the AHA of Wisconsin.
