FAU College of Nursing Awarded Full Accreditation
BOCA RATON, FL (July 13, 2004) - The Florida Atlantic University Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing has been granted accreditation for the maximum term of ten years by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education of the American Association of Colleges. The notification comes with no recommendations for improvements in the standards and key elements for accreditation. The next accreditation review will be in June of 2014.
"We are delighted to learn of our full accreditation with no recommendations," said Dr. Anne Boykin, dean of the College of Nursing. "This decision affirms what we know to be true, that we do indeed have a renowned program of excellence in nursing education. This is true because of the commitment and dedication of faculty and staff and because of the excellent students we attract."
The College of Nursing is moving forward with exciting programs at the baccalaureate, master's, post master's and doctoral levels. A new accelerated second degree baccalaureate in the nursing program at the Boca Raton campus began this past May with the admission of 22 students with degrees in fields other than nursing. The program was created so that students can complete their degree in one calendar year.
In addition to this, the professional phase of the basic baccalaureate in nursing program began in January 2004 at the Treasure Coast campus. Registered nurses are able to complete the baccalaureate degree in nursing in one year online or in a traditional class setting. The online program is for individuals who are already nurses and are seeking a baccalaureate degree. These individuals may choose to complete their baccalaureate courses in nursing online.
FAU's College of Nursing also boasts a master's program that has increased by at least 150-percent and a new Doctor of Nursing Science program that began in January of 2002.
