Florida Atlantic Football to Participate in the Palm Beach County Sports and Fitness Festival
BOCA RATON Florida Atlantic University Head Football Coach Howard Schnellenberger and team members are scheduled to participate in the 2004 Palm Beach County Sports and Fitness Festival, 10 am 4 pm, July 15th and 16th at the South Florida Fairgrounds.
The Palm Beach County Sports and Fitness Festival is an avenue for amateur athletes with an opportunity to showcase their athletic skills and talents in an Olympic-style festival setting.
The Owls football team, that finished 11-3 and ranked no. 4 nationally, will be on hand to enjoy events that many participated in as high school athletes, but have chosen football as a vehicle to receive a college education. There are two football players that hold state track records and several other team members who participated in Olympic type sports in high school. It is those outstanding athletic qualities that have come together to allow the Owls to move to NCAA Division I-A and Sun Belt Conference affiliation in just four years of competitive play.
