FAU Presents Lecture by Jonathan Barnett
Author of Redesigning Cities to Speak on Urban Design
JUPITER, FL (May 6, 2004) - Florida Atlantic University's Center for Urban & Environmental Solutions will present a lecture by New Urbanist architect/designer Jonathan Barnett at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 13 in the MacArthur Auditorium, 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter. Jordan will speak on his new book, Redesigning Cities. The lecture is free and open to the public.
An advisor to key government agencies and cities throughout the U.S. and abroad, Barnett has influenced the way cities are designed. In his new book Redesigning Cities, Barnett explains how design can reshape suburban growth patterns, revitalize older cities and retrofit metropolitan areas.
Barnett was director of urban design for the city of New York and advisor to Cleveland, Norfolk, Pittsburgh, Charleston and Kansas City. He is a professor of city and regional planning at the University of Pennsylvania and a board member of the Congress for New Urbanism.
