FAU Theatre Department Presents "Graduate Repertory Showcase"

BOCA RATON, FL (April 21, 2004) - The Department of Theatre in Florida Atlantic University's School of the Arts presents its biennial "Graduate Repertory Showcase" featuring graduating Master of Fine Arts acting students. The performances will be Thursday, April 22 through Saturday, April 24 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 25 at 2 p.m. Performances will take place in the Studio One Theatre on FAU's Boca Raton campus at 777 Glades Road. Individual tickets may be purchased for $10, FAU faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $8 with ID and FAU students may receive tickets free with ID.

FAU's Master of Fine Arts degree is a two-year training program that culminates in a showcase that highlights the talents of the graduating class. This year's graduating students will present a mix of one-person shows and monologues charged with energetic performances that include everything from the classical to the absurd.

"The 13 students of the graduating class have become a true ensemble over the past two years and have had a remarkable impact on the Department of Theatre and on each other," said David Mann, a professional actor who is currently a visiting assistant professor at FAU and director of this year's Repertory Showcase. "Their talents are infinite and this production showcases that fact."

Over the last semester, each student has worked with Mann on various pieces that highlight that student's abilities and interest. They then worked to bring all of these pieces together to showcase the class as a whole.
