FAU Eminent Scholar Speaks At University Club Dinner
BOCA RATON, FL (April 15, 2004) - Michael Zager, founder of Florida Atlantic University's commercial music program, spoke at a dinner meeting of FAU's University Club held at Pete's restaurant recently. Zager is the Dorothy F. Schmidt Eminent Scholar in the Performing Arts and a professor of music at FAU.
The recipient of numerous awards in the record, advertising and television fields, Zager heads the program that last year was named "Best New Major" in the state by Florida Leader Magazine. The program is designed to prepare students to become the music professionals of tomorrow through its focus on the creative, technology and business aspects of commercial music.
The University Club, founded in 1976, develops and implements fundraising projects and encourages its members to give of their time, talent and energy to help achieve the goals of the University. Over the years, the organization has contributed more than $700,000 to various University projects, particularly to scholarships and to the library.
