FAU
Presents 16th Annual IMPAC Awards Dinner
BOCA RATON, FL (March 24, 2004) -- Florida
Atlantic University will host the 16th Annual Individuals Making Personal &
Academic Contributions (IMPAC) Awards Dinner on Friday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. in
the Boca Raton Marriott Grand Boca Ballroom. Over fifteen scholarships will
be given to students who demonstrated exceptional academic excellence and leaderships
skills at FAU.
The IMPAC awards originally
was established in 1988 by what was formerly named the Minority Student Services
Office to assist with minority student retention and to honor FAU employees and
community leaders for their distinguished service to FAU students. Due to the
influx of ethnic groups on FAU's campus, the Office is now called the Office of
Multicultural Affairs and its new mission regarding the IMPAC awards is to target
freshmen and sophomore students of all ethnic groups and provide them with the
opportunity to apply for scholarships made possible through various contributions.
IMPAC is one of many programs initiated at FAU to assist in the effort of retaining
students during the first two crucial years of college.
The 2004 Title Sponsor for this year's IMPAC awards is OfficeDepot. Other sponsors
include Broward & Palm Beach Communities Physicians, Chartwell's Food Services,
Riverside Medical Associates, Inc., Anthony J. Russon, Jr., P.A., State Farm Insurance
and various FAU contributors.
