FAU Potters' Guild Holiday Show and Sale
BOCA RATON, FL (December 3, 2003) - The Florida Atlantic University Potters' Guild will hold its annual show and sale December 10 - 13 at Patch Reef Community Center on Yamato Road, ¼ mile west of Military Trail in Boca Raton. The show hours are December 10, noon to 8 p.m, with an opening reception at 6 p.m.; December 11 and 12, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and December 13, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
The show, in its 29th year, will have 25 students, alumni artists and faculty displaying works ranging from functional pottery to decorative and sculptural pieces. Scott Lammer is this year's featured artist. An Iowa native who received his undergraduate degree at Clarke College, Scott is currently a student in the MFA program in Ceramics. He uses a variety of ceramic methods such as wheel throwing and raku firing. Much of his work deals with individualism and identity in a social and relational context.
Proceeds from the show will benefit the ceramics program in the Department of Visual Arts and Art History, a component of the School of the Arts in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters at FAU. For more information on the show and sale, call 561-297-2289.
