Two FAU Faculty Members Receive Fulbright Scholar Awards
BOCA RATON, FL (December 29, 2003) Two Florida Atlantic University professors have been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant, according to the United States Department of the State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
Dr. Robert Adams, FAU associate professor and chair of the College of Arts and Letters, will be lecturing on American Literature and American Studies at the Ho Chi Minh College of Education in Vietnam.
Dr. James Wetterer, associate professor of the FAU Wilkes Honors College, will be lecturing and doing research on the biodiversity of the Caribbean at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr. Adams and Dr. Wetterer are two of approximately 800 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad to some 140 countries through the Fulbright Scholar Program. Established in 1946 under legislation introduced by the late Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the programs purpose is to build mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries.
The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of the State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Recipients of Fulbright Scholar awards are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement and because they have demonstrated extraordinary leadership potential in their fields.
