FAU Environmental MBA Program Presented The Council for Sustainable Florida Award
BOCA RATON, FL (December 23, 2003) At the Business Environment Learning Leadership (BELL) Conference held at the Florida Atlantic University downtown Fort Lauderdale campus, President Frank Brogan presented a 2003 Council for Sustainable Florida Award to the College of Business for the development and implementation of its innovative Environmental MBA program. Dr. Mantha Mehallis, director of the program, accepted the award on behalf of the college.
The Florida Legislature established the Council for Sustainable Florida in 1990 as a private, nonprofit organization committed to conserving Floridas vast natural and economic resources. The annual awards were created to honor those who have made a commitment to a sustainable Florida and have demonstrated exemplary leadership.
We are honored to receive this award, said Dr. Mehallis. It confirms our mission in the College of Business to establish graduate programs of excellence.
The Environmental MBA program began in the fall of 1999 to develop business skills among environmental professionals with an international perspective. The program has received high acclaim throughout North and South America, and was heralded by Don Lesh, a member of the Sustainable Council of Florida, as the model that
will lead all the rest. The Environmental MBA Program will be launched in the Republic of Panama in early 2004, sponsored by the City of Knowledge.
