DESCRIPTION: With the shutting down of Napster and the issuing of subpoenas for illegal downloads, the battle of corporate rights to protect assets versus the public's right to fair use has never been more visible. This conference will:
stimulate an active and ongoing dialogue on intellectual property issues,
establish a network of professionals willing to participate in a policy think tank, and
initiate a University Center for Intellectual Property in the Arts at Florida Atlantic University's Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.
Conference organized by Michael Zager, Grammy-nominated composer, arranger and producer and FAU Dorothy F. Schmidt Eminent Scholar in the Performing Arts, and Jeffrey Galin, Director, FAU University Center for Excellence in Writing and Director of Writing Programs.
