FAU Sorority Helps Women Dress For Success
BOCA RATON, FL (October 27, 2003) - Florida Atlantic University's Gamma Iota Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. has been conducting a month long drive to help Dress for Success, an organization that facilitates career development by providing suits to more than 30,000 women in over 70 cities each year.
The ladies of Gamma Iota have been collecting dozens of boxes and bags full of generous donations from the FAU community, including business attire, handbags, accessories, unused makeup and makeup samples.
"The Gamma Iota is a chapter with extraordinary young women," said Daphnee St. Val, coordinator of Greek Affairs. "They are a newly recognized organization here at FAU, but have been very involved in giving back to the community at large."
Established in 1975, Gamma Iota is a philanthropic-based Greek letter organization whose mission includes the fostering of academic excellence and promotion of community activism in all arenas, as well as the sponsorship of cultural and educational programs.
Dress for Success drop off spots on FAU's Boca Raton campus, include the Dean of Students Office, Student Services Building, Room 226, and Indian River Towers. Those wishing to donate can call the Lambda Theta Alpha, Gamma Iota Chapter at
561-297-8501.
Dress for Success is a non profit organization that helps low income women make tailored transitions into the workforce. Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she receives a job interview and a second suit upon being hired for the job.
