FAU Announces Advisory Committee To Oversee Presidential Inauguration
Boca Raton, FL (September 23, 2003) - Celebrating excellence in education, Florida Atlantic University has set the wheels in motion for the inauguration of its fifth president, Frank T. Brogan. Overseeing the four-day celebration in November, FAU has established an advisory committee made up of community leaders, students, faculty and staff.
The advisory committee will be chaired by FAU Board of Trustees vice chair Sherry Plymale. Plymale, who served as the immediate past chair of the State Board of Community Colleges, also served as President Brogan's chief of staff when he was Florida's education commissioner. In addition, Plymale is a member of the Treasure Coast YMCA board of directors, Leadership Florida and the Martin County School Readiness Coalition.
Working with Plymale to organize the inaugural events are: Armand Grossman, president of the FAU Alumni Association; M.J. Mike Arts, president of the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce; Susan Whelchel, deputy mayor of the City of Boca Raton; Dr. Fred Hoffman, FAU Board of Trustees member and professor of mathematics; Dr. Robert Watson, associate professor of political science; Ancel Pratt III, president of Student Government; Betty Zinman, vice chair of the FAU Foundation; Virginia Miller, FAU Board of Trustees member; Dr. Gregory Aloia, dean of FAU's College of Education; Dr. Joyanne Stephens, vice president of FAU's Broward campuses; Dr. Jerry Lafferty, vice president of FAU's Treasure Coast campus; Dr. Kristen Murtaugh, vice president of FAU's MacArthur campus in Jupiter; Dr. Dorothy Leland, vice president of FAU's Boca Raton campus and Alene Brewer, president of FAU's University Club.
The inauguration and investiture celebration will take place on Wednesday, November 12 - Saturday, November 15 and will feature events at each of the University's five campuses.
