Who: Florida Atlantic Universitys Volleyball Team/Spanish Academy.
Spanish Academy is a new charter elementary school, grades K-3. It is the only school of its kind in the state of Florida. The mission of the school is to teach all curriculums in both English and Spanish. The elementary does not hold regular p.e. classes; therefore, FAU athletics has committed to provide student-athletes as a resource.
What: Volleyball players instructing four classes in both English and Spanish.
When: Wednesday, September 17. 9:30 am 10:45 am.
Where: Spanish Academy, 447 Spanish River Blvd., Boca Raton, FL 33431
Why: Many of the FAU student-athletes enjoy community service and working with children. This exercise provides them an opportunity to give back to the community. The team will also distribute posters and invite the students and family to their game, September 19th. The elementary school has been in session about one month. In that time span, the students have learned to count in Spanish. The volleyball team, has several Spanish speaking players, who will lead the exercises in Spanish.
